Happy 5 month Birthday Sophia!!!

"Give me cake! Give me cake! Give me cake!"
It is hard to believe that Sophia is already five months old. This was the first birthday that she actually reached and wanted some of her birthday cake. I wonder how long we will hold out?? She is becoming increasingly more aware of her surroundings and is excited and laughs at everything. Sophia has already managed to get her father wrapped TIGHTLY around her long little finger and I imagine as she becomes more interactive that grip will only get tighter. After being with Aaron for about four years now...and I still haven't accomplished that task. :) Way to go Sophia!

HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY TO TINA!!!

Wife,

I know you're still feeling a little under-the-weather today, but I hope you can still enjoy your BIRTHDAY! Maybe we'll have to celebrate some more when you're feeling better :)

Quarantined for the Weekend!!!!

Sophia's first breathing treatment at home

Now she's a pro...

Mommy and Sophia crashed out after a long night!

As you've already read (cause I know you check this blog two or three times a day), Sophia went to the hospital Wednesday night and we were told she has RSV. Well, by Friday morning she had been again to the doctor's office and though she had improved a little, the doctor almost sent her back to another hospital (one with a pediatric unit). Then, as she was focussed on caring for Sophia, Tina began to feel ill on Friday, with a sore throat, aches and headache. So with both my girls feeling sick, I preparing for a long weekend as the family nurse. But that plan turned out to be short-lived because Friday night I became violently ill - vomiting, fever, etc. So even though she was still feeling sick, Tina had to take over the nursing duties. We decided Tina's symptoms were similar to what Sophia already had, but that we shouldn't let her get whatever I had come down with.

So Tina's had an especially long weekend, but she has done a great job!! I am finally feeling better, and Tina's starting to improve. And, as always, Sophia's too busy smiling a playing to care that she's sick. I guess the silver lining in all of this is that our plans to leave town for the weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day and Tina's birthday had already been canceled.

Signing Baby!

I started signing to Sophia somewhat regularly when she was about 4 months. She is now almost 5 months and although she is not signing back I think it might be registering. When I have made a bottle for her I sign "milk" over and over. I think she is slowly stating to sign it back. I will be interested to see if I can stay consistent enough with the signing that Sophia will be a communicating toddler.

By the looks...who could tell???

After looking at this happy face who could tell that we spent the night in the hospital? It all started on Wednesday when we took her to the doctor for a cold. The doctor confirmed Sophia had a cold and sent us home with no prescription an said "It has to run its course." Well, twenty-four hours later her breathing was labored, her chest cavity was retracting and her cough was much more severe. So...we took her to the ER and they confirmed what we had feared. Sophia has RSV. She has received treatment and we are still watching her closely. However, in Sophia style she smiled through it all!! Aaron and I were planning on participating in a murder mystery at a bed and breakfast this weekend with my sister and her husband. As you can tell by the past tense of that statement, we canceled. We hope Sophia gets better soon. :)

NASCAR SEASON!!!

As most of you know Aaron is a huge NASCAR fan. The first race of the season was on Saturday and Sophia wore her Jeff Gordan outfit to watch the race. As you can tell Sophia has plumped right up. We are having trouble finding socks that are not too tight on her "cankles." :)

Could I be any luckier??????

Happy birthday to us!!!!

We celebrated Tammi's, Alyssa's and my birthday on Superbowl Sunday too! It is hard to believe but Alyssa is already one years old. It has always been fun to celebrate my birthday with Tammi. She is a great friend! Happy birthday sister! (Don't worry I won't tell everybody how old you are. :))

FANTASY FOOTBALL

I am not sure how I got myself into a fantasy football league, given I barely know how the game is played. However, I did. We had eight teams in our league and concluded the season with a party at our place on Superbowl Sunday. As you can see my dad won the fantasy football championship and we all know he talked some major trash all through the season. (Of course the money he is holding was in no way his winnings. That would be gambling and we would never do a thing like that. :))
